U.S. Borax open pit, Boron, Kern County, California
A large, sharp-edged, translucent gray crystal. The first two photos were taken just after the specimen was rinsed in water. The last photo shows it after it has dryed and the surface has altered to a chalky white due to dehydration.
Found in only a few locations worldwide and was only found in Boron for a short time when the open pit mine was first opened.
